View Full Version : Pond Water Clarity
I have a 6,000 litre pond. It the summer it seems to get a lot more
murky than the autumn, winter and spring. I'm not sure if it is algea
or just dirty.
I have a Cyprio Prima XL 700 pump going into a PondClear UV25 (25 watt)
UV clarifier. This then goes into a green machine filter. The filer has
6 sponges and two rows of brushes. The size of the filter is 45 cms
wide by 60 cms long by 42 cms high.
Is this set-up adequeate and is there anything I can do to improve my
water quality?

Depends, how many fish and what kind?
To find out for sure. Test your water for Ammonia, Nitrite, pH, KH &
Nitrate. If the first 2 come up zeros, yes your filter is adequate as far
as fish are concerned. If the last one (NitrAte) comes up high, you need
more plants.
For really clear water, year round, you may need a bigger filter, or
cleaning the old one more often, or just a pre-filter before it. ~ jan

Water quality is fine (amonia etc.) water clarity is poor. I have 13

Check out my website and the filter situation I have. If that won't work
for you, explain how your set up is .... set up. ~ jan
