alternative forums

Anyone know of a forum that isn't a newsgroup that gets a lot of
traffic. I am so tired of trolls. And please don't fill this topic up
with who started it or why... I just don't care. I want to talk and
read about fish, plants, gadgets etc.

Sidenote, because I keep fish, I now know how to mix the sugar into my
iced coffee in a more effective manner. I blow bubbles! It mixes the
coffee like a sponge filter with an air lift tube!

Yep there are a few Gardenweb is one forum that has an excellent group
without the bull**** for tropicals, planted tanks or any thing related
to fish keeping as well as a pond section. I wold habng ar9und a bit
Adam, I do belive things are goona chage here and for the
better.......Just invoke a kill filter for Koi Lo and 99.99% of your
problems with trash is already over.......

No but someone should contact you silently by e-mail and invite you to a
private group. I believe there are at least two of them now. Usually the
traffic is not high in such groups, or at least that's been my experience.

I get really worked up about the trollage as well, but a good killfile
helps a hell of a lot.

There are not 20 Koi-Lo's, just 2 Koi-Lo's. One is the troll also known as
ROY. He posts under other people's NYMs as well. If you look at the
message headers you will see that the rude, threatening and obscene messages
come from Roy posting from Earthlink.net.

There are free newsreaders out there as well as free newsservers. They
allow filtering where Google does not. I use OE6 and several free services
to access Usenet. There are also pay services to access Usenet. Google has
to be the bottom of the barrel to read and post from.

Google doesn't filter, but they do have a responsive abuse program,
on-the-fly. It's been very effective at the oils and canvas groups where
trolls showed up. They were very effective at dismantling trollers there.

Only if the trolls are posting through Google. They can't stop trolls like
the ones here from posting through their ISPs or private NSPs. We have one
dedicated troll here who has made up his mind to destroy every aquarium
group on Usenet and of course blames someone else. These people never take
responsibility for their own destructive behavior. It's always someone
else's fault who *made* them do it.

The best advice I've recieved so far is to post AROUND them and continue
on.....

as well since they are getting educated on the use of a kill filter
and proper usenet readers so they can filter yuour lousy ass out and
