Damn but I want this friggin' algae gone!!!!! (Yeah, I know, wait a while
and it will.... It's all ready appearing less and less....)

I want to buy water hyacinth but it can't be shipped to California!!!!

On the good side of things, I have a pair of Pacific Tree Frogs which have
set up home around my little pond and about 10 California Toads (who squeak
when you pick them up...)

Anybody in or around Eastern Fresno County that wants to get rid of some
water hyacinth or lettuce or duckweed or .... or.... or....??

(And I finally have a highly efficent filter with Xnews for the place here.
YIPPEE!!!!)

Water lettuce soaks up the nutrients and fast. Add Potash to your pond for
faster growth. Harvest and compost bi-weekly. They really starve out the
algae.

Koi-Lo....
Frugal ponding since 1995.

Who says? You can buy it in plenty California nurseries.

http://www.summerwindsca.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=locations.main

Orchard Supply & Hardware occasionally has it.

Payless Hardware & Rockery, 2927 S King Rd San Jose CA 95122 (408) 223-4920

Granted these are all on the SFBA, but if we got it, you got. If not, use
watercress (grocery store), water lettuce, anachoris.

So says some government agency. Which one, I have no idea. FDA? EPA?
Dept of Ag? Water Hyacinth is an invasive, non-native plant much like
the American Bullfrog is non-native for the whole of California. Yeah, I
can buy it in nurseries but I was hoping for cheaper plants through the
Internet...

On the other hand, if anybody knows of an internet site that *will* (or
can) ship to California, I'd be happy to give that a look, too...)

(And I *have* been on the lookout for watercress....)

It is regulated by the States, and California does NOT restrict the
sale of WH (thank g-d) at the present time.

Withstanding that... get a UV.

Yikes... what has to this group and all the cross-posting vitriol....

A recent study from Thailand says Water Lettuce is about 20% more
efficient as W.H.

The restriction is usually on importing it into the state -- at least
that's true here in Arizona. My supplier, whom I found on eBay, can ship
it to me because he's also in Arizona. Try checking online for sellers
in California.
