for said tank of 30 US Gallon Tank using a fluval 3plus is it beneficial or
not to have plants for an aquarium, my understanding is they help remove the
nitrites.
I was looking towards the following types as I have read on plantgeeks

Java moss
Java Fern
Lace Java Fern
Narrow leaf Java Fern
Most of the Cryptocoryne sp.
Most of the Anubias sp.
Guppy grass
Hornwort

I have my nursery tank which is only 7 Gallon, but I would like to use it
too start off my plants before introducing them to my gold fish which are
best described as savages at best when it comes to plants :-)

TIA

You would be sahead of the ganme asking this question in
rec.aquaria.freshwater.plants

All your gonna get in this group or any of the mainly fish groups is
opinions and not the necessary facts as their choices are based on
local availablility to their area and not what is out there that can
be used.......Most folks tend to be from the USA in this group as
well whereas the group mentined above has lots of UK folks in it and
is geared more for that locale. Folks in this group tend to patronize
local big box stores like Wally World which you do not have in the UK
and Wally World and others in the USA carry a very limited amount of
plants anyhow.

==========================
I've had very little trouble with my goldfish eating the plants in my tanks.
Perhaps you need to feed them more, feed more often or give them more
variety. My GF get orange, zucchini and cucumber slices in addition to
their pellets, flakes, dried krill, thawed blood worms and brine shrimp.

You might want to check out this product:

And direct some specific questions over to them for more ideas or info
beyond what you can dig up online. Their idea of planting heavily,
and not simply growing & adding a little at a time, makes some sense
to me. A phone call to them might be helpful.
