Hi.
I noticed that there are little flies, or maybe even mosquitos(?) on the
inside of my glass top on my aquarium. Any ideas where they came from?
Are they harmful, or are they a potential food source? :)

There may have been some larvae in something you bought from a store.... &
now they have matured.

if you've been feeding bloodworms, red misquito larvae, you're finding the
ones that attach to the sides near the top of the water, after evaporation,
they dry, and hatch... best way I've seen is to make sure all is eaten, and
run your finger around the edge and knock off some when you see them stuck
there...
I had it once and we thought they were fruit flies.. later learned that we'd
been overfeeding a betta tank, fixed it quick...

Not sure, but freezing, then re-hydrating, may allow a dormant larvae to
hatch... but I'm not sure anyway... I know for sure they can hatch from the
frozen ones, I learned that by watching them.

Yeah, i just saw this happening a week ago.
a larva which was frozen, was stuck to the aquarium class.
When i saw it a couple of days later and removed it, it started
moving.
