You wouldn't think so since peas are not a natural food source for them.
The next time I make peas I'll offer them some. I have 5 bettas now. The
real old one finally passed away.

Nikki first told me about the peas. Since then, I've heard of oranges,
cucumbers, cheeto's...Nik mentioned removing the pea's hull before feeding.
I wondered about that, given they eat somewhat crunchy insects in nature.
Out of laziness, I'll just smash the pea between my fingers and let it float
its way around. All my fish make short order out of consuming it. Then a
few days might go by...I'll fan the bottom gravel with my hand (another lazy
way to clean the gravel, right at H2O change day)..I'll find a few hulls
left behind.
Hey, they like it...they look good thus far. They've trained me. I've
always spoiled my pets. Animals and I have always gotten along.

I tried squash once. At first the fish seemed interested, but never
finished a piece. Being lazy I decided they didn't like it. Some
decisions are easy.
How can you be sure these treats are actually good for the fish?
My lazy self knows Tetramin is aware of fish needs, so lazy me can
accept their food as healthy. Works so far.

This also came from Nikki...It started out as trying to diagnose a betta
of mine. We mulled over the constipation theory and before you knew
it...the group had me picking up some english peas and some epson salt.

Did the peas work for your betta? Was it constipation?

I know my GF will eat peas but I never tried feeding them to the carnivorous
fish such as bettas. I just bought a can of peas and will try it soon.

I am curious to hear how it works for the GF. Being lazy, I wouldn't
get fresh peas and cook them, but canned peas even I can do. I have
one female molly that has had a huge stomach for years. I didn't want
to treat the tank, so have done nothing. Peas I might try.

Thanks Nikki. These are the canned peas. I'll toss the skins and drop 1/4
a pea in each betta tank. If they like them then I'll buy a can for them
every week and give some to all the fish. I'm going to drop the zucchini
and cucumber as the GF and plecos don't eat much of them. They take a
nibble or two and that it. Maybe I'll just switch to the peas......

I know GF will eat peas and oranges. They love nothing more than a slice of
fresh orange or tangerine. I didn't know bettas would eat peas. Canned peas
are the way to go. The skins come off easily. I think I'll open the can
tonight and see if they'll eat them. What they don't eat I will. ;-)

I thought only the French ate canned peas! Frozen taste so much better.
Canned are a bit softer, so might be better for our finned friends.

For those who hate to cook or want "fast food" to feed to fish, canned peas
are the way to go. I love frozen peas cooked and slathered with butter and
some seasoning. Unfortunately my husband likes the canned peas. Hard to
believe but true, so I buy canned peas. :-(

"TetraMin contains:Fish meal, dried yeast, ground bown rice, shrimp
meal, wheat glutten, potatoe protein, ... I believe the heigher the

concentration.
