View Full Version : first pictures of my 75g

Hi.
I've finally gotten a few decent pictures taken of my 75 gallon aquarium.
If you want to check them out, I made a .Mac homepage with three of them:
http://homepage.mac.com/cp4v/PhotoAlbum1.html
Most of the plants that you can see are silk. I have a few live plants
(Najas, african fern, a small anubias (nana?), and some Java fern), but
need (and want!) more. The floating plants are plastic, to provide a spot
for the gouramis & guppie fry to hang out.
The fish are mostly out of focus (sorry!), but you can see most of what I
have:
2 ember tetras
9 honey gouramis (some normal, some "sunset")
10 threadfin rainbows
9 pygmy corydoras
4 d. maculatus cichlids (mostly white w/black spots along the midline,
visible in a few of the pictures)
1 otocinclus
4 guppies (and 6? fry)
hope you like the pictures! If you have any suggestions, feel free to
pass those along, too.

Thanks. :)
I just can't help feeling underplanted when I see pix like this:

Awesome looking tank but how often do you have to replant the
floating plants? ( that is always my problem-weekly replantings)
Lots of patience and care involved in a nice layout- thanks for
sharing

Very nice. What is the plant with the small teacup leaves in the center
and right side photo? It's low, just behind the Anubius nana. It looks
a bit like Pennywort.

Thanks for the compliment. I think that the biggest tip I have gotten
from participating in this group is to be patient.
The floating plants are plastic, and are there for the gouramis. One of
the honey gouramis in particular spends most of his time among the
floating plants.
There are three of them clumped together, and they tend to stay in place
by the competing current from the filter (Aquaclear 300) & the airstone on
the other end of the tank. I usually disturb them when I do a gravel vac,
so I have to put them back after that, but otherwise they tend to stay
put.

I wasn't fishing for compliments by posting the pictures, but I'll
certainly take them -- thanks!
Anyway... that plant is one of the silk ones. I bought it from Petco
online, the link is here:

The description calls it a "Caulerpa Verticellata"

Caulerpa Verticellata's description is a synthetic imitation of a
sal****er plant. I'm not sure a real plant even exists by that name
(maybe someone took artistic licence with names from other plants ;~),
and if it's marine then it's not going in my tanks. It was pretty
though. Thanks for the info anyways.
