Hi
recently, 3 days ago I found a dragonfly nymph in my fish tank! it must
have come in with the plants cos there's no other possible away, unless
a pair of dragonflies snuck in the middle of the night, got into the
tank cover and mated? I now have this nymph in a water-filled jam jar
and i dont know what to feed it. I would like to keep it until it
finishes its larval stage (that lasts a few years..) So anyone kept any
dragonfly larvae before? I need help on what to feed it and its still
very tiny, only a few centimeters.

I read somewhere that they feed on fish fry and tiny waterborne insects and
other small water creatures. You can Goolge Dragonfly Nymphs and I'm sure
you' come up with more info than you bargained for.

If you want to feed it and raise to adult, I would set up a little tank
(2 1/2g's are available for pretty cheap at Petsmart and come with a
glass lid), to house it in.
I would add live plants and a small sponge filter.
For food, some eat fry but mainly insects.
I would even try frozen foods, such as Bloodworms.
While in this stage they get oxygen out of the water, not the surface,
so you're going to need a filter, or a ton of live plants and lots of
fresh water.

baby guppys, mozzie larvae...... daphnia in greenwater
live bloodworms
heck even some ants and their eggs might work, or fruitfly maggots
these things like to pierce and suck so ya want juicy little things
build up to mealworms maybe
