View Full Version : Platy Update (...and my cat really digs flake food)

About a week or so ago I posted about my platys being ticked about something,
missing scales and looking like someone had skidded them across the ground. I
was rather freaked out at the time which resulted in a REALLY long post which
I'd like to apologize for. The answer was right in front of me the whole time.
Just the Paradise Fish being aggressive and the Platys freaking out.
So as not to leave a NG cliffhanger, the little guys are bouncing right back!
They're back to a bit more of their individual roaming, the light patches are
shrinking and I watched as two of the males did the "fan thing" display at one
of the paradise bullies. I'm so proud! ;)
Somewhat OT... has anyone else noticed their legged pets going nuts over flake
food? My cat has been known to stick his face right in the canister. Cute,
but certainly not what I'm going for. I don't think cat boogies do anything
good for the freshness of the food, but a cat with flakey whiskers is good for
a laugh at any rate.
Happy Trails!
Jessica
Warning:Fishkeeping is a highly addictive activity that has been proven to have
a detrimental effect on one's social life and wallet. Other side effects may
include loss of hand moisture, C.O.W.S., and familial loss of appetite related
to freezer foods.

I spilled some flake food once & my dog was all over it. It smells bad, so
of course pets love it!!

yep. My cats all love fish food. One of them is so hooked he will chew
open a container to get to it. He's a bad bad cat :-) I have to keep
the food locked away now where he can't get to it - up on a shelf isn't
good enough!

That can be dangerous. One of our kittens got his head stuck in a
canister of Tetra food and gave us a pretty bad scare. Keep your fish
food in a safe place!

Yep, I'm here to tell you, siamese cats, golden retrievers, and daschunds,
LOVE fish food... I've had 2 bags of algae wafers eaten, 1-13oz can of
cichlid granules eaten, 2 bags of wardleys cichlid food disappear.... I've
had to not only hide the food, but put a lock on the stand for the cat, he's
now learned how to open the stand doors... and anything he brings out, the
dogs will eat...

Oh my GOD. I suppose I should feel blessed that my pets only beg! And the
occasional sneaky headfirst dive when I'm not paying attention at feeding
time....
Sheesh. You win! :D
