Poor thing. Brenda was a goldfish who started to get fatter and fatter to
the point where she look like a seal with a very rough skin. At first, I
thought she was full of eggs, but although there was a lot of mating going
on in the pond, none of the males was interested in Brenda, She stopped
eating and spent most of her time panting near the surface. There is always
a bubbler going.

I eventually got her out, and gently held her. She was hard. And poor
Brenda died this morning.

Should I have treated her differently.

Thanks

only if you could have brought her inside for treatment into a large container.

John, any treatment just prolongs the inevitable I found over the years.
The problem, if "cured" always returns and causes the death of the afflicted
fish. At least that has been *MY* experience.
