View Full Version : Tenting my house for termites-What to do with fish?

I don't know about other places, but in Hawaii everyone
covers their whole house for termites every 10 years or so.
I plan to move my 20 gallons of fish outside so they don't
get gassed. I wonder if I could use a 55 gal plastic container
in the shade and run an extension for an air pump. There was
some toxin in it years ago but has spent years as a rain barrel and
its very clean opaque white.
I guess my question then would be is plastic harmful for fish for 30
hours or so?
Thank you! Rob

I had the same experience.
I went to Home Depot to buy a plaster trash can with wheels. Drained all
tank water and fishes into the trash can and push it to my neighbor's garage
(including the empty tank). Set up air pump and heater. 3 days later when
the tent was remove, put the tank back and pour all tank water and fishes
back into the tank. Only lost 1 neon after all those moving around.
Hope this will help.

If you are concerned about toxins, put a plastic liner in the
container.
