Hi.

I have 8 honey gouramis in my tank. Four normal coloration, and four that
are called "gold" honey gouramis at my LFS. My LFS told me (verified in
books and online) that honey gouramis are usually colorless in the store
tanks, but change to their reddish orange / black stripe coloration after
a few days in your home aquarium.

First of all, this is weird! Why do they change colors like that?

Among my four "normal" honeys, two of them have changed color, but the
other two still retain their "colorless" LFS look. Why did two change but
not the other two?

Any insight appreciated...

I imagine they're fading from the stress of shipping and being housed in store
conditions. I haven't read up much on them and haven't kept them, so perhaps
the females are paler. Since you're comparing them to their priginal fading
though, I imagine that what's going on is that they may still be a bit freaked
out.

Maybe :)
