Hi.
My wife and I went to the Newport Aquarium, which is in the Cincinnati
Ohio / Covington Kentucky area.
Very cool! Besides their amazing large tanks, they have some small
biotope tanks (where here, small is probably 500 gallons?). They were
really neat -- they are called "World's Rivers" tanks, and they include an
Australian "Wenlock River" tank with rainbowfish, a Congo tank with Congo
Tetras and other african species, a south american tank, a Tanganyika
cichlid tank, and others. It was really neat seeing several species from
the same region in a pretty realistic reproduction of their habitat.
It was also neat to see really impressive specimens of common aquarium
fish -- they had the biggest, brightest looking cardinal tetras I've ever
seen. Their congo tetras had grown to an impressive size, too.
Of course, as neat as it was to see these nice aquaria, it also occurred
to me that part of my $16 entry fee went to pay for looking at fish I can
see in my basement for free. :)
Anyway, I just felt like plugging this place, since I really enjoyed it.
