Dead Sword, sick Molly..heres what I am doing..is it right?

20 gal tank
3 Black Molly's (One female with a white fungus)
1 male sword (the female died 2 days ago)
4 tetras
1 Pleco
2 Clown Loaches

1 real plant (dont know what it is, its long and skinny and grows p and
floats around the tank.

All readings are in the green except water hardness which shows the water to
be hard.

Tonight I removed the charcoal filter and added Ick Away to the tank. About
5ml per 10 gal as instructed but its hard to tell exactly. Tomorow night I
plan on a 50% water change and plan on doing this same Ick Away and water
change for 3 consecutive days. I am hoping this will save the Molly and keep
any other fish from dying.

Anything else I should do? Or not do?

I can only suggest that you proceed as you think is best and don't get
discouraged if things don't get better. Use this time as a learning
experience and endeavor to keep healty happy fish.

(in other words; why add ich away when your fish don't have ich?)

Oh yeah, is this a new tank? How long has it been running? I ask
because the test strips aren't very accurate for taking measurements
during the cycling period.

The tank has been running for about a year. As for the Ich Away, the bottle
says its for Ich and various other funguses and external parasites. The
Black Molly had a large spot on her that appeared to be a white fungus. I
used the Ich Away last night, this morning the white spot is smaller and she
is no longer gasping and sitting on the bottom of the tank like the sword
was before it died. Thats the only medication I could find for fungus.

You mentioned that a Molly had fungus. Do you atleast some salt in your
water? I have kept up to 1 tablespoon of salt per 5 gallons (20
liters). The fungus also may columnaris, which is not a fungus at all,
but a serious bacterial infection.

Carefull with your Clown Loach as they sensitive to both ich and
treatment (1/2 dose is usually best with loaches present). Make sure
to continue treatment after the last spot dissapear for 12 days. Every
two to three days (I prefer three days, with a water change before
treatment).
