Fish safe paint?

Hi all

I've googled, i've asked in forums... nobody can give me a straight answer
on this one.

What paint can i use for underwater decoration?

I thought maybe a radiator paint as it's waterproof and can handle the
ever-so-slightly-warm temperature, but it's oil based and therefore possibly
toxic... but then any waterbased paint is equally unsuitable.

Any help on this one would be very much appreciated.

What you'll want is marine epoxy. I believe it's used for painting
boats. That's what folks use when they build their own tanks and need
to paint the insides. Anything oil-based would leech stuff into the
water column.

After searching a fe forums i've discovered "Krylon Fusion" is a popular
choice and, in his book "Aquarium design", Matthew Christian recommends the
use of Acrylic paint saying that, once dry, it's waterproof and non-toxic.

He also says that PVA wood glue can be used as an adhesive and sealant.

I built a couple of 100 gallon aquariums out of plywood years ago,
used the 2 part epoxy from Jones Blair and it worked great. It needs
to be for potable water. Home Depot or Lowes most likely has something
that will do the job for you.
