I am going to cross post here as this was an interesting post elsewhere
from a site I trade links to.

>1. Could a batch of blackworms include intestinal fish parasites?

Yes, I always rinsed mine and lately have tried usnea or metronidazole
baths before feeding

>2. Is this medication likely to kill the good bacteria and snails?
What about the frogs? The directions only mention nitrification
(really good bacteria) and invertebrates being killed.

I have not had problems with nitrification with most parasite
medications. I would recommend clout or any other medication containing
trichlorflon A food soaked in metronidazole can be effective too.

>3. Could the biowheel harbor additional flukes or worms or their eggs,
etc.? Should it be disinfected?

No. I would recommend a pre-filter on your intake to increase
filtration, especially during cartridge changes.

>4. What is the best fish medication to use to kill gill flukes and
intestinal parasites without harming scaleless fish, frogs, snails, and

good bacteria? Does such a thing exist? What should I buy since I'm
doing an order soon.

Again, I would try clout, but it does have risks, but more to silver
scaled fish like silver dollars and tinfoil barbs

>5. Did I do the wrong thing? I can abort the treatment. I hate
killing some innocents to try to save others.

Not that I can tell (although Maracyn and Melafix will not help your
problem), but prevention is the best cure. This is why I would STRONGLY
recommend a UV Sterilizer, especially considering your aquatic TB
problems

>6. Should I treat my other three aquariums with anti-worm poison?
They don't have any invertebrates.

It may be a good idea.

We trade links with this person's site. I noticed this question in a
Google group that I read regularly but no longer post in do to
"flaming" of my posts. I have been in the aquarium business for
over 30 years, over 25 years in professional maintenance. My area of
interest and where I got the most referrals was in aquarium disease
treatment and prevention. I have spent years testing and consulting
with experts (human side too, as there is more research there). I have
seen problems similar to yours many times, and it is a difficult
problem to treat. Prevention is the key here. I strongly believe that
UV sterilization can help you here, partly do to the improved Redox
Potential of your water, but have effective sterilization matters, as
many who poo poo this have not set up the sterilizer properly and
researched what the sterilizer can and cannot do (this is why I no
longer post there, but I am active in many other groups where I learn a
lot and hopefully pass on some of my knowledge too). I have written and
published several articles about these subjects.

I would recommend reading:

buy a bottle of pig/poultry wormer
levamisole hydrochloride
is the chem your after
forget what you read about needing a certain pH to use it
doesn't matter, stays in solution 70 days or something
doesn't hurt anything and is cheap enuf to have on hand

Other meds like the praziquantral based ones are handy
but you are best of doing a gill test on a fish to try ID species of
digenetic trmatode or whatever it is.
More likey to bring in a parasite with snails!!!!!
Remember parasites only become a problem when conditions cease to favour the
host!!
test water for ammonia and nitrite!!!!
The real question I alwasy ask here is
Do you squeeze out your filter in a bucket of water drawn from the aquarium?
never clean your filter under the sink

levamisole hydrochloride (SP?) is a wonder drug
used to boost the immune system in AIDS patients
it does nothing but kill worms in fish
everything else kills snails or bacter or something.

last thing a parasite does when it dies
is lay a million frikkin eggs
so vacc it up
and treat again so ya kill the babys when they hatch
KILL KILL KILL!!!!

I used to use this drug in an Aquatronics product called "Discomed",
this was an excellent product. In fact almost everything Aquatronics
put out was really useful, It was too bad they went out of businesss a
few years ago.

The ingredients were:
Levamisol, NaCl, Piperazine, Magnesium Sulfate and Neomycin Sulfate
Activity

see I just like it pure
oh and it's tricky to over do it too
overdose is a massive dose
pig or poultry version of levamisol (liquid) is the go for economy!
the tablets are a pain in the arse to crush up!!
