December 2nd 06, 04:43 AM
December already !?! Before you get into holiday overdrive mode come
on over to our monthly meeting for some good company and a fun
relaxing time. This month our speaker will be Ronald Coleman and his
topic will be "Fish of Costa Rica". I am sure we'll see lots of
pictures of warm places and beautiful fishes to keep us from thinking
about the temperature outside.
Our Killie Keepers group will be meeting at 5pm. I hope to be bringing
some of the offspring of the very nice Rivulus pair I got last summer
at the very first Killie Keepers meeting.
The bowl show is open to all categories.
The meeting will be at the Round Table Pizza on Moorpark Avenue in San
Jose (near Hwy 280 and Saratoga). As always the Board of Directors
will meet at 5:30. All members are welcome to attend. We want to hear
what you have to say. Social Hour and auction and bowl show check in
start at 6pm. Our speaker starts at 7pm and the auction and raffle
will follow. Please remember that it is cold and make sure you have
an insulated container to take your auction fish home safely and
warmly.
Our website is back in its original location svas.info.
Elections for the board of Directors this month!!!! We need you!!!
Please consider running for the board of directors. Of our seven
member board three seats are up for re-election. These seats are
currently held by Sabrina Fullhart (past president), Jay Rose (our
founder and past president) and Joshua Levy (our current president).
So far as I know Sabrina and Joshua will be running for re-election.
After being a member of the club's board since the beginning Jay Rose
has announced that he will not be running for re-election. We will
miss having him as an official board member, but hope he will continue
to lend us his guidance by attending board meetings as a club member.
Another member of our board, Mark McKay (webmaster, membership, bowl
show chair), must leave the board before his term is up to pursue his
work as a founding faculty member of a new charter school. I
understand this school's curriculum is based on hands on science (like
fish keeping). Mark has been a tireless worker for the club and I
know he will to bring his enthusiasm to his new endeavor. We wish him
well and hope he'll still have time to come to some of our meetings.
So, we really need at least two club members to step up and run for
election to the board. If you want to do that, just come up to any one
of us and we'll get your name up on the election slate. It's that easy.
If you are worried that you'll have to take on all of Jay's or all of
Mark's duties if you take their board position, don't. We can make
sure that you get to do things you want to do and feel comfortable
doing.
Merry Fishkeeping!
