Is this a good deal? I'm skeptical, but I like the price.

There's another guy selling similar which is a "Jebo 2007" w/ 20K lights.

Kurt I did not look at it but remember that Metal halide may work but has
possibly lost its power or kelvin # and it would not be visible to the naked
eye.

JEBO does not have the greatest reputation for longevity nor warranty
honoring. I seen quite a few lights of theirs that literally boiled
out ballasts and caught fire. There are folks that will tell you that
even like bulbs are not even close in color output etc. There is junk,
then there is junk made in China, but the bottom of the barrel is junk
made by JEBO.

Many horrow stories of pumps smoking under water, skimmers who crack
their bodies for no apparanet reason and the most common is their
lights just plain suck. I know manufacturers are always on the
lookout to make items cheaper, yet never drop their price so they just
really try to make more $$ of a given item. JEBO is the company that
has this practice down to a science, as they can virtually make
anthing without nothing.

How do you really feel?

About what I suspected. I have a wood cover that I'd rather not see
burst into flames.

I've been leaning towards the corallife w/ 2x250watt MH, but it's a cool
$1000.

Just remember one rule of thumb, you get what you pay for.
Jebo from what I've read in the past is junk.
Price these components up and see how much it would cost you to DIY.
2 ballasts, 2 bulbs, a few PC and ballasts for them figure in a box and fan
some switches.
This is very cheap for a 48" light.

What type of corals do you have again ? Do you need this type of light ?
If I was in the market for one of these I've been looking at:
http://www.current-usa.com/outerorbithqit5ho.html
The 48" sell for around $700

To be quite honest, I have Current USA orbit 48" 65Wx4
http://www.current-usa.com/orbit.html
My Softies and few LPS are doing great got this for around $260

I like Current USA quality and customer service and warranties.

Checkout individual c0omnponents from a source and see what it would
cost for retro.

Hellolights.com has a calculator that you can configure / build a
light how you want it, out of a list of parts theyb carry and it will
give you a price on that configuration, Perfect for up inside a wood
hood, and you can select what type / brand of ballasts and bulbs, fans
etc etc. Hellolights is very reputable and reasonable to deal with for
light assemblys and parts. I bet you can get a comparable light
assembly with that lighting designer module on hello lights that would
be equal or better the coralife light for a lot less money.

Sorry about the stutter...

I forgot to mention that my tank is 28" tall, so I have at least a 16"
of water above the rocks.
