Ok, my head is on the chopping block here - showing my ignorance of maths.
I have been searching for the formula to use in calculating the volume of
water my tanks are holding, I need it in litres. Can any of you tell me
the basic formula for calculating this?

Cheers
Lill (ducks as you all groan in despair at her ignorance)

Here's another one - no math involved. :) Only for squares and rectangles
though..

It's better to let someone think you're an idiot than to open your mouth and
prove it.

Use google :-) Just enter '55 gal in litres' for an instant conversion

It's a google 'hidden' feature that will convert between many measures. I
use it a lot for temp and weight conversions.

The default is US gallons. If you need imperial, just specify, ie, 55
UK gallons in liters (or 55 imperial gallons in liters)

You can also do 24 inches * 12 inches * 12 inches in gallons, or 2 ft
* 1 ft * 1.5 ft in liters, etc

However, it won't make allowance for gravel or glass thickness in it's
calculations but there are other calculators that will.
