hi
is it possible to get parts for a red sea prizm skimmer {the hang on type}
as far as i can see its leaking where the pump meats the chamber,
is it possible to get more o-rings or use a sealer on it {if so what type of
sealer}
thanks

I've had good luck with the Teflon pipe thread sealer sold in plumbing supplies.

If you torture the data long enough, eventually it will confess
to anything.

The orings used ar enothign special. I bet you could go to almost any
automotive supply or maybe even a plumbing supply and get replacement
orings locally. I doubt Home depot etc would have them. Harbor
Freight has an assortment in a box of all sices, for a few bucks if
you happen to have a harbor freight store in your area. Another source
is an industrial supply or bearing supply house....O rings are very
common. Or possibly Teflon tape as previously suggested.
I would not be afraid to say you can probbaly get Red Sea to send
replacement orings, but I would look locally first as that would be
quicker and probably cheaper too.
You can make orings also. its easy. If you can find a larger diam
oring it can be cut to reduce its size. It is best to cut the ends ona
45 deg angle, but a straight cut with a razor knife will work as well,
and then use super glue to bond together. I made O rings for
hydraulics this way already and they are in use years later without
problems.

I've had no luck with getting help from Red Sea, I've emailed them several
times about getting parts for my Prizm skimmer and got no response. Like
George said you can go to your local Lowes ot Homedepot and get most of the
parts (O rings tape ect) you need

Red Sea is a good manufacture to stay away from
purchasing stuff.
You could use silicone rubber, as it does not stick
well to most plastics, but will form a rubber seal.

Aqua C Remora. Best hang on type skimmer there is. Hands down.

Aqua C Remora...best skimmer for the money hands down in regards to
hang on type.
Coralife super skimmers may work but leave a lot to be desired long
term. Like the old saying you get what you pay for especially with
lights and skimmers.......
Just when you think you have the CSS operating properly it will let
you down with a flood on the floor, and noisey operation and poor
performance......The RIO pump is weak and pityfull as well.
