My new aquarium has had some set-backs, and now my fish have ich (I
have 2 platies and a swordtail that I've started trying to cycle my 40
gallon tank with).
I have Jungle Ich Guard. The instructions say to leave the
temperature alone, dose the water, and 24 hours later change 25% of
the water and dose it again. It says to remove the charcoal media from
the filter. My questions:
1. Is this likely to be effective? Everything I read says that ich
can't be killed while it's on the fish, so I would expect that I would
need to keep using this stuff for a week or two, unless it stays in
the water for a while.
2. Does this harm the biofilter? It doesn't really matter at this
point, since my tank hasn't really cycled yet, but if this happens in
the future I don't want to kill my biofilter while treating ich.
