View Full Version : New Betta!

So, I added a new kid to the family today.. Currently he's all alone in a
TopFin 2 gallon (not the greatest, but he's getting a 5 gallon Eclipse in
about a month). I'm planning on eventually adding 2-4 cories to the tank for
company. Would 2 Panda corys be too much for the tank right now, or could I
add them, do you think?
Also, does anyone have a good Betta specific forum they recommend? (Not that
you guys aren't great, but I like to be thorough) :)

Congrats on the new kid. = )
I'd wait on the Panda Cories for now. A 2 gallon is not enough room to house a
male Betta and 2 Cories. Even though the Pandas stay a bit smaller than many
Cories, it's going to be over crouded.
Have you given any thought to Pygmy Cories?
Cories are schooling fish and need other members of their own kind to feel safe
and secure, as well as "happy".
Pygmies stay very small, and in 5g Eclipse you plan on getting you could have
the Betta and about 5 Pygmies in it.
Research the Pygmy Cory and you see how tiny they are, but so adorbale.
They not only hang out at the bottom, but they swim around in a school like
fish do.
It's so neat. Not something most Cories do.
They also like to hang out on the leaved of plants..perched like a bird.
They're too funny.

Yeah, logically, that's what I thought... but I feel bad for the little guy,
all alone right now, even though he doesn't seem to care. :)

I have almost 20 cories in my big tank, so trust me, I know how much fun
they are.. :) I'm planning for panda's because I am reasonably sure I can
get a few when I'll need them. I have never seen pygmy's in my LFS or at Pet
Smart/Co. I do plan to ask LFS if they can order some, but I'm not holding
out too much hope, you know? :)
