I bought this setup for my 50 gallon reef. It replaced 2 power sweep
power heads.

model 1200. (3 x 295 gph) Only 2 power heads are on at any given time,
but wow, talk about water movement. I bought the 1200 system as I
thought that the more flow the better. I'm having second thoughts now,
perhaps I should have gone with a bit less flow. I've steered the flow
towards the top of the tank for now to limit the beating the livestock
was taking.

My question is: Do you think this is too much flow for a 50? The
livestock is 2 bubble tip anenomes, (My one split about 2 months ago)
several soft corals including mushrooms, star polyps, colt, etc. and 2
LPS, Hammer and Open Brain.

Thanks,

Cliff

You are looking at 300 and 600 gph on a 50 gallon
reef tank. 300 gph is not too much. 600gph might be
a problem. My suggestion is to use outlet 1 and 2 as
normal, and then do somethig with outlet 3 powerhead
to reduce water flow. You can then slowly increase
water flow from outlet 3 pump as you feel comfortable.

OK, I have turned the interval all the way down to 3 min but I think
I'm going to do what you suggest. I'll use one of the power sweeps in
outlet 3 turned all the way down. (it has variable flow)

Thanks Wayne, I appreciate your advice.
