View Full Version : 330 bio wheel doesn't turn

I have two 330 Penguins with 4 bio wheels. Earlier I posted regarding
the wheels sticking and not turning. I fixed the problem with new
filters which increased the spillway water flow.
However, nothing is forever. One of the 4 wheels stopped turning,
that well already had been cleaned and had a new filter. So what now?
Lucky for me I had taken advantage of a new purchase offer to send
replacement bearings and had a pacage in my stuff. That did it,
replacing the little plastic bearing at each end of the wheel axel.
The Wheel now turns as fast or faster than its buddies.

Aside from the bearings you replaced, be sure the intake tube is clean and
the impeller that is magnet driven is also clean. I have smaller pumps than
yours and it doesn't take much for the bio wheel to stop. One note by the
manufacturer is that it's not uncommon for the wheel to stop for a day or
so. Any longer and it's time to clean things up!

I hope the manufacturer also suggested changing the plastic bearings
on each end of the wheel axil. I was lucky. My filter purchase
included an offer to send a free set of bearings upon request. I did,
they did and I used them and the wheels turn freely.
All of the cleaning I did, did not get the wheel to turn, but with new
bearings it spins faster than the 3 other wheels, in fact I changed
one bearing on another wheel that was becoming sluggish and it to
rotates fast. I plan to order more bearings to keep on hand.
