Hello, I have algae growing in the intake tube of my filter. I am
constintly having to clean out the intake tube. Are there anyways I
can keep the intake tube algae free... or atleast have alot less
algae?

Thanx for looking.

Nope... why are you so concerned about it? Is it blocking the intake tube...
Some algae is normall & good....

My fear is that it will eventually get to a point where it will
interfere with the intake of water.

You can decrease the amount of algae growth by blocking the light going
into the hoses (opaque hose). Otherwise, as Craig indicated, the algae
is not really causing trouble until it begins restricting the flow. It
many regards, it's actually quite beneficial, filtering your water (and
ideally, algae should grow where we don't have to see it ;~)

What diameter pipes are you using, I have clear pipes 2 cm, with a nice
healthy coating of algae in them (less 1 mm), which almost make the tubes
look opaque. For you to get worried about it blocking, I would suggest you
have something else growing in there as the algae coating shouldn't get
anywhere near to blocking a pipe, is your flow fast enough?

Cheers
