I've heard multiple schools of thought on freshwater Snowflake eels...
Do they originate in salt-water and are acclimated to fresh? Some
have told me that they only live a short time in freshwater, is this
true? What is the best diet for them? What is the best tank
setup/environment for them? What would be appropriate tankmates for
them?

I have heard so many mixed up myths and facts about them and I hope
that you folks can help to clarify them a little.

They are a marine fish that can tolerate brackish for a time. They will
survive in freshwater long enough for the shop to sell them.
You really need a full marine set up of at least 75 gallons & large fish
tankmates.
