I did do a search on this and lots came back, but please bear with me
as I am still clueless with PH issues.
I moved to a new area which has hard well water (hardness - 150,
alkalinity - approx. 160). My 10 gallon's PH is reading 7.8(this is
what it was a few weeks back). The 2 1/2 gallon Betta tank read 8.4
today, which concerns me (the Betta seems fine...this tank read 7.8 a
few weeks back). Should I start gradually diluting the tap water with
distilled water, to bring the PH down to around 7.8? Why is it
rising? I do a 25% water change and vacumn weekly. Why would the 10
gallon read lower if I am using the same water in it? I do a water
change in it e/o/week as it presently only contains 3 snails.
Nitrites (0) Nitrates (20) and ammonia (0)are the other readings on
both tanks.
Thanks in advance for any assistance!
