Hello all,
I just had a 55 gallon fish tank rupture and of course all the fish and
water ended up on the carpet. I have called a carpet recovery company to
help in the cleanup. I am concerned about any residual bacteria that may be
left in the carpeting after the cleanup. I am wondering if anyone has dealt
with this before and what your experiences were after the cleanup. Thanks
for your replies.

As far as the natural bacteria in your tank, you've nothing to worry
about, but do get that dried out completely ASAP using lots of box
fans and open windows.... pick up all your furniture and move it to
another room or jack it up on blocks so that the air can dry the
carpet under where they are sitting too. If you don't dry it out
quick, that musty, mildewy smell will come along. I've used and
recommended Febreeze or Clorox FreshCare a number of times for issues
like this. Good luck recovering from the mess.
