I am setting up a basic FO freshwater tank for my father. I got a
great deal on an Oceanic 58 Reef Ready tank (1 overflow). I have a
metal stand for him, and don't really want to run one of my Fluval 404
canister filters (For cosmetic reasons only. Basically because it's a
metal stand).
I have an Emperor 280 Power Filter for him to use instead of a
canister. I already own all these previously mentioned components.
But, I am concerned about the water flowing into the overflow. I know
that I will cap off the bulk head fittings, but I don't want to have
stagnating water in the overflow area. I was thinking about buying a
Micro-Jet 450 to pump out the water, but don't know if I will end up
burning out this pump if the water level gets too low (doesn't
overflow).
He loves my tank (37G FO FW), and knows nothing about aquariums. I'm
kinda a newbie (< 1 year) and I will be taking care of his tank, so I
need some solution that will be reliable.
Any ideas?
