Hi,
I know goldfish root around in the substrate & take gravel in their mouths
and then spit it out - I was wondering if anyone has any experience of using
sand as a substrate with goldfish. Is it always in suspension? Is it bad for
them?
Any input welcome!
tia,
Sky

I have sand in my goldfish tank and they love to dig around in it in a
neverending search for leftovers :)
If the sand is well rinsed before use to remove the smallest particles, it
should be clear in a few days.
Use a thin layer to avoid compacting and dont use sand with sharp edges.
Opinions is very different on wether it is bad for them or not. I have
used sand for two years whitout any problems.
You may ask in rec.aquaria.freshwater.goldfish
