Hi All,

I recently picked up a loach from my LFS. The owner said that the
loach is from Indonesia but was not sure exactly what it is.

Could anybody help me with identifying this loach and its basic
requirements? It is about 1.5 inches long with gray/brown stripes. I'm
including a picture at
http://members.cox.net/hbftp/aquaria/loach/loach01s.jpg
or a bigger version at:
http://members.cox.net/hbftp/aquaria/loach/loach01l.jpg.

Thanks in advance,

J

Nice fish. Very goby-like.
Try searching on Schistura or Serpenticobitis .

Very cute fish! :) If it's a loach, chanses are you might find it listed
here: http://www.loaches.com/species_index.html

Good luck!

We've gotten them in where I work as "Mountain Loaches"... but I've no
clue what their specific nomenclature is. The fish supplier says
that they are very hardy and prefer lower temperatures than most
typical tropicals (like the white cloud minnow).

I'm going to have to go with Banded Loach.

Thank you all for all the info. I went to Loach-On-Line for
references and was told it is a "schistura beavani" whose picture is
very close to mine. Still, I could not find much details on its
requirements. I guess it's not a very common fish...
