View Full Version : Q on Paddle tailed Newt.

July 29th 04, 07:59 PM
Saw one at the pet store the other day in with the ADFs, and though it'
would make a way cool addition to my menagerie. Before I take the plunge,
I want to find out more.

Are they social, solitary, or indifferent? Should I get one, or two?

Would they cohabit well with African American Dwarf Frogs, a Pleco, and a
Kuhli?

Are they fully aquatic, or would they need some kind of "land" as well?

www.caudata.org is a good site and if it is a true paddletail newt, he is
best solitary, they are territoral and aggressive, also newts have a toxin
in their skin so they best are suited to species only tanks.

That was helpful, thank you.

Further research has shown that these critters don't play well with others,
and should be kept alone. I don't think I'll be getting one.

Don't assume, they might be Jamaican. :-D
