View Full Version : Hatching brine shrimp

I've decided to start hatching my own brine shrimp to feed my fry, but I
have a question regarding salinity. The eggs I purchased say to use 4
tablespoons of sea salt per 1 gallon of water. However, my salt (Doc
Wellfish's) says to use 8 tablespoons per 1 gallon. What do I do?

So why the discrepancy? I ended up using about 6 1/2 per gallon to test it
out. Says on the package the "optimal specific gravity = 1.015" I don't
have a way to test this, but does anyone know how much salt per gallon would
give this gravity?

I've used varying salt levels and all have worked fine. I've found the major
downer
is not having any air bubbles will more likely lead to failure as will temp
swings.
