My pond has been overrun by snails. Every week there are dozens of them
trapped in the skimmer. Is there any way to get rid of them without killing
the fish?

you might try anchors away. it has dimilin in it. copper safe made
for ponds should work, altho using any copper product is tricky. the
hardness must be between 59-300 ppm. Ingrid

Using copper safe would be fool hardy to say theleast. Back in yur
moderated lesbo group Ingrid (Dr. Solo) and stay there........if this
is the best you can do. We do not condone erroneous crap as this.

Check out the article on snail removal located on the web based forum
Koiphen. It only takes a minute to register and it has allthe info one
could possible need and very very knowledgeable folks instead of a
bunch of wanna be's and flowovers form the moderated group.

http://www.koiphen.com

Check em out, you won;t regret it and posts are answered rather
quickly unlike on usenet were they can go for days and then be
erroneous as Dr. Solo already proved.

Use a full dose of a general med treatment, like Medifin.

I put a full dose of Medifin in my pond many years ago and every single
snail died and was found floating on top the following day.

Never seen a snail since.

I don't know if this is a Good Thing or a Bad Thing.

Obviously not such good news for the snails, but do snails do anything
useful in a pond?

Putting 'medifin' into Google came up with this as the top link:

http://www.tetra-fish.co.uk/tetrapond/products/pageTEMPLATE.asp?productID=
222

Or if that's too complicated:

it doesnt really say WHAT medifin is, it doesnt give the chemical
compound. it also says it is "doing it all" it will "treat diseases
such as whitespot, skin parasites, gill flukes, bacterial skin
infections, fin rot, fungus, and to prevent secondary infections of
wounds and lesions."

sounds like it is either salt or formaldehyde. Ingrid
