mixing cichlids

Is it safe to mix any cichlid as long as they're from the same lake? I'm
thinking of changing my 30 gal tank to a small cichlid tank. Very colourful
ones would be nice. Any suggestions?

Just because 2 cichlids are from the same lake is no guarantee they won't
kill one another. Likewise, just because they may be from different lakes
(or continents) doesn't necessarily mean they will. What species are you
thinking of getting? What is the water like?
