Does anyone know of someone who has or is currently breeding Blue Jack
Dempseys in the Toronto Area. Ive seen them in stores but I hate having to
purchase from them.

Thanks

George, I have, but am not currently breeding, the blue JD's. The last two
spawns are all gone. Contact me in 3 months and I should have more. As far
as I know, only males are hitting the retail stores.
I am in Clarington.

Jim: Shouldn't the blue JD's NOT be spawned as pairs?

In other words, can't the blue males *still* be useful
in a breeding program?

I haven't tried a blue x blue spawning as yet, but from what I've learned,
this isn't the way to go. I cross blue males to their normal sisters, and
normal bothers to their sisters. I get enough of a percentage of healthy
blue fry, even after culling weak or deformed fry, to more than pay for the
fishroom groceries, etc.
All these JD's came from a single male crossed to 2 regular females.
