I have a 46 gal tank and 5 fish, none seem to bother each other, except that
the yellow lab stays away from all the other 4. Is this normal?

Are they all Yellow Labs? Sounds like this fish is at the bottom of the
pecking order.

Joel, cichlids have to make a pecking order, whos the boss, then sub-boss,
then the lowers, the commoners, then the peasants.... your loner is just a
peasant... not allowed to associate with the royalty.... very common....
sometimes I've had to feed the tank in two places to make sure the lowers
ate first, then the royalty got fed on the opposite side of the tank....
kinda worked...
