Is this the same insulation stuff with a white cardboard piece on each
side that Lowes & Home Depot sell in 4'x8' sheets (obviously wayyy more
than I'd need? Or should I be using a bare 1/2" piece of Styrofoam instead?

====================
The stuff I use is plain white insulation. It's some kind of polyfoam,
reminds me of the stuff those take-out coffee cups are made of. Mine came
in 24" X 4' sheets and were very inexpensive. It compresses when weight is
put on it. The 1/2" Styrofoam should work just as well. :-)

No dumbass, you need to use fiber glass batt insulation. Just don't
get it in the crack of your ass as it will irritate the hell out of
that rectum of yours since your such a sensitive type of
guy................and if yyu do go with styrofoam, make sure youo get
it thick enough so when it comresses from the tanks /water and
gravel wieght it applies pressure to the bottom glass and it busts
and you get a slopping wet floor to clean up. It will do you a lot of
good.............jerk!
