Visible blood vessels in tail

When I got home from my recent business trip (1 week in Japan) and had the
energy to look at the fish in detail I noticed that Hoshi has a couple of
visible blood vessels in his caudal fin.

Hoshi is a sarasa comet, about 5" long, all white except for an orange spot
on his forehead. His activity and appetite seem to be good. I tested the
water: pH 8, Ammonia 0 ppm, Nitrite 0 ppm, Nitrate 20 ppm.

Normal or cause for concern?

Are you sure they haven't always been there? If you look closely at white
fish you can often see thin red veins in their caudal fin. I have a white
oranda and she has visible red veins in hers and is completely healthy and
happy. I think it's just because the fin is more transparent than fins of
another colour and you can see the veins more clearly. As long as your water
parameters are ok and stay that way then I wouldn't worry too much unless it
becomes worse, or if you know for sure that they weren't visible before you
went away.
