I wish ;) Incidentally netmax - what do you have at home?

I've got a 200l community hardwater/ph7.8
a 70l community sof****er/ph6-and-a-bit
and two 9l acryllic tanks - one containing a male
betta, one containing a female.

I'm not in favour with the bloke. I spilt a little water
in my monitor and now I have to use his PC until I get
a new one. :(

At home, it's a 120g, 66g, 40g, two 32g and a 20g (I think, as they are
in storage except the 1st two). My 66g is in my wall, so I keep that one
stocked. My 120g recently split open, so that one is empty and I moved
the inhabitants to work. When I filled the tank, I noticed what I
thought was a lot of air bubbles in the silicone. I was wondering if the
seal was weakening, but I'd never heard of a complete seal giving way. I
learned my lesson the hard way. The left front seal of my 120g split
open, the tank dropped 60g on the floor and then the glass plate got
pulled back in by the remaining silicone. Fortunately the floor is
mostly concrete and I have a wet/dry vac. I was also running full
redundancy on filters & heaters so the tank just kept humming along on
the one submerged heater and the canister filter (the powerfilter ran dry
and the top heater fried). With all the tanks at work, I really don't
need any aquariums at home (I get to see my fish more often at work
anyways :o).

Sorry to hear about your spill. I'm also quite practised at this

LOL @ Netmax.......Skanky bugger :)

BTW...I noticed you said you have an outside tank. Do you have heat issues?
How do you solve this problem and more importantly which fish do you keep in
this tank? Im interested as I have a large Rubbermaid container outside full
of plant clippings that are thriving. I would like to add some fish to this,
small ones! Any suggestions? At the moment there is no airstone or heater
attached...only water & plants :)

Thanks mate

Outside tank? Nope, not me. I'm in Ottawa Canada, where ice is a
predominant water feature for several months of the year.

My garden tank perhaps? This is just a tank which was set up to showcase
what a planted tank could look like. I used a 135g to have lots of room.
Slapped on about 200w of light with a couple of CO2 dispensers and filled
it with all sorts of interesting plants. Occasionally I put a few fish
in there, in addition to the permanent residents (Oto-cats & MTS).

One thing that's for sure. A fish enthusiast simply LOVES to tell you all
about their stuff don't they? Especially a place like this NG where folks
are actually interested! It rivals old folks in Miami Beach telling each
other about their various operations and health problems! LOL

Wow Netmax, and my family thinks I'M nuts! I only have five tanks and they
think I'm obsessed. I'm in Edmonton Alberta, where we also see snow for
more months of the year than not, and currently I have:

1- 72g stocked with plants, a half dozen discus and clean-up crew
(bristlenose, corys and ottos);
1- 55g currently empty (but not for long). It used to house the discus
until it sprang a leak a month ago, forcing me to buy the 72 gal setup in a
panic. The tank had been in operation for a decade, and the silicone at the
bottom had disintegrated (didn't think that was possible). Have new
silicone and it'll be up in no time - no plans yet on what to stock it with
(I'm leaning towards ciclids again, only this time, smaller ones)
1 - 20g quarrantine tank;
1 -10 gal community tank with a gourami, coupla barbs and 1 lonely tetra;
oh yeah, and 1 - 33 gal sitting in storage but might replace my 20 as a
quarrantine one day. Then again...maybe not.

Incidentally, I can think of nothing that would make me happier than to work
with fish for a living. I consider myself to be well-qualified via a
lifetime of experience, but the money stinks. A job ad asked for an
aquarium specialist to take care of all the tanks at West Edmonton Mall.
The job required a university degree, but the pay was a mere $10/hr with no
benefits. If I got the job, I'd be the happiest person in bankruptcy court!

Most think I'm nuts too with 5 tanks, in Auckland, New Zealand. I currently
have

1-55g heavily planted with 4 discus 40 cardinals, rummy noses and clean up
crew
1-55g American Cichlids, rocks and few plants
1-20g "South East Asian" planted tank with clown loaches, Gouramis + clean
up crew
1-10g low tech planted tank with halogen lighting,
1-10g currently housing a pair convicts

However, I am looking at a 120g to give my cichlids more space... and it
will probably be an additional, rather than replacement tank!

I have just a few tanks... Until recently I had six tanks up and running
with the seventh sitting empty, but now I have eight tanks..

Currently up and running with

1 55usg Mbuna's ( 2 other 55's needing to be filled and set up again, when i
make my move back to Canada these will come with me )
1 29USG Currently used as a grow out tank for the young cic's
1 20USG Currently dismantled, awaiting a move..
3 10USG, one fry tank, one hospital tank and one tank housing three new
lizards ( lucky little stiffs should thank thier stars they didn't get
tossed into the fire place last eve.. Seems they took up winter residence
underneath the bark of my fire wood, if I never pulled off the bark to use
to start my fire they would have been cooked pronto )

Looking forward to returning to the Canadian praries, so I can start
breeding some pure breed mbuna for the local yolk's..

Tim..

I'm shawn, from a little bitty town near Peterborough Ontario,

I have a 35g with 2 frontosa's, 2 lamprolongus compressiseps goldheads, 2
electric yellows, 2 angels, 5 breeding red hump Geophaguses, 1 bristlenose
pleco. However, I will soon be getting rid of the angels and the yellows,
making room for maybe a pair of mbuna's and also 2 species of peacock... In
my 15g I have about 60 Baby red hump geophaguese. I am in the process of
setting up a 2.5 gallon that will have 3 dwarf puffers and make a catfish. a
friend and I, are trying to start a business in which we supply stores with
fish.
