One of my red peacocks will occasionally stop where he is, and extend all
his fins to the fullest while opening his mouth really wide, all for just a
second and then he carries on.
What's that mean? I haven't seen any of the rest do that.

it's a common thing.. often refered to as yawning. mine do it too, I don't
think you should worry about it. it really does look like he is just
stretching and yawning, so I don't really worry.

I hope you find out why, too. Mine does that on occasion and I thought it
was acting like it is yawning. I finally got colors in my peacock after 3
months when he was just a small fry from a friend who had way too many in a
29 gallon tank.
