I use fine sand as top substrate in my soft water tank. This is your basic
light brown sand you see in stores. But after 2 months, it turns brownish at
the spots where lighting is strongest. This is of course nothing but good
ole friend algae. But shouldn't brown algae appears where there is little or
no lighting? On top of this, I have poops from my Corys and Sturisoma (which
I have removed). I guess this is coming from them chewing all the driftwood
in my tank. But yet I see a lot of show tanks showing planted Discus tank
with spotless pearl white sand. How the hell do they do that?
