January 31st 08, 11:39 PM
This month we have a special treat for all you planted tank junkies.
It's "A Tale of Two Tanks". Our own Dave Millman and John Feuerhelm
will talk about their different approaches to planted tank design and
maintenance. They will be comparing and contrasting two 70 gallon
planted tanks.
Dave Millman is one of the original members of the SVAS and is a
Master Horticulturalist in our HAP program. John Feuerhelm is the HAP
coordinator for our club. Both have been long time hobbyists and
really know their stuff. I always look for their plants in the
auction knowing they'll be the best.
As usual we will meet at the Round Table Pizza at 4400 Stevens Creek
in San Jose. Dave and John will speak at 7:30. Come early for social
hour, to order food and check in for the auction and bowl show. The
bowl show is open to all fish this month and is a great way to show
off fish you want to auction. See you there Saturday February 2nd.
Call for Volunteers:
If you have time to help us, our club really needs volunteers for many
jobs - some small, some large, some at meetings and some outside of
meetings. We are looking for people to work on the raffle, coordinate
speakers, help transport club equipment, auction runners and many
other jobs including sending out these monthly notices to you - a job
that takes very little time, but is vitally important to our club.
The SVAS only works if there are enough volunteers to do all the jobs
needed. Please consider helping out. I have found it very
satisfying. I know you will, too.
