My all new web page is up and running, please stop by and let me know
what you think of the new layout. I will be adding many new photos and
information over the next few weeks.
Thanks

Nice site Chris, however the link you gave left out the "i" in "exotic".
Great pictures!

Here's your corrected link as a courtesy for other readers here in the
group:

www.exotic-aquatics.com

Happy New Year!

FIRST POINTS:

the logo / banner is like 250k which is completely unacceptable for any
website, as it will take MINUTES for it to load on a dialup.
here is an example of the banner ... but using only about 20k which is okay
for the size of the banner (very large) that you are using.
http://joelsalcido.com/header01.jpg

I suggest you try to do this with all of your photos...

I noticed under the cichlid photos section that the photos there are also
all way to large in file size.

all these photos can be reduced to between 1/5 and 1/10 their size with a
small (maybe unnoticeable) loss in quality.

for a modem user connected at 14.4k it would take about 15 minutes to
download the cichlid photos page.

many programs can do this, but quality varies...one of the easiest free ones
I found was the jpeg resize.

Photoshop and paint shop have very good compression abilities.

SECOND POINTS:

you may want to remove the text "information concerning..." from the main
image..it doesn't look like it belongs there, and serves no real practical
purpose because the information is already on the main text of the page, and
also you provide a link to the email at the bottom of the page, which most
people will use instead of reading the email from the image and then typing
it in a message.

FINAL POINTS:

you need to decide what the purpose of the site is...is it...
A) purely informative and therefore you should be focusing on articles and
images.
B) for profit (business) in which you should talk about ...in detail...
exactly what you have done for your past clients, or exactly what services
you offer and perhaps some sense of your rates.

in my opinion, it appears that you are leaning towards "A" because the
website does not make it clear that this is a site for information regarding
the services you can offer.

Good luck with the website, be sure to look at other peoples aquarist sites,
as that is one of the best ways to learn.

but great job on the photos, you are good with a camera, no doubt, and the
tanks look very clean and well cared for too.
