FYI, this is a text only newgroup. HTML posts might get ignored by some
users, while it might be cursed by those with low speed dial-up
connections. You might get better responses if you post in text only
(like everyone else ;~)

cheers

Yes slow dial up peeps like me don't like downloading html messages, as it
takes so much time and well I don't like to wait to long.. I am not
blasting you or angry, just remember it takes a long time to download them
cutesy looking formats ... As far as the unIDed fish in the first picture,
it is very hard to tell as the photo is not very clear as to the colouration
of the fish or other physical appearances.. Try again without the html
posting and better picture and it might get id'ed for you Crystina...

Its the silly little signature on my email that slows you guys down!
Note takin I wil remember to take the picture of when I post!!!
Now as far as the html on the wepage.. I dont know another way to set
the pictures up.. If I remember correctly I read that we were not
suppost to POST the pictures. Maybe if I alter the wepage with only 1
picture on a page it wil load faster I dont know I will try.
OK Heres the altered version of the webpage..

Thanks. Putting a URL to a web site with the picture is perfect.
Unfortunately, I can't tell what it is from the picture. Can you take a
profile picture? It looks like a Pseudotropheus sp zebra with the body
of an Acara, something like a white Jewel cichlid ?!? The egg spots on
the anal fin narrow it down a bit, but the shape doesn't look right to
me.

OK I added another picture, maybe this shot will be clearer for you.
Also if you lok at he bottom of the picture there are next page links
with pictures of the other fish, I am hoping someone would have am idea
of there sex, And I have no idea what breed the albinos are. I am sorry
if I am becoming a pain!
Thanks

The pics can be shared, but not in a non binary NG. An example would be
using alt.binaries.aquaria to post the pictures. Then if you want the people
from this NG to have a peek see, post the message saying you have posted the
pictures at such and such newgroup.. No your not going to be condemed for
posting here without knowing, hey its happened before and will again... Just
a bit of netiquette we all learn no and then..

Much better. A species of Pseudotropheus zebra would be my guess. There
is a good chance that he is a male (from the egg spots), but even the
females have a few egg spots. I wouldn't guess at the sex of the others.
Many, like P.zebras (which is probably also your albino) are not that
easy to sex.

OK onee more question..
So what do I look for to see if they are going to have more babies?
Hole digging? DO they get fatter? How often do they breed?
I have looked around online at a few websites about the fish.. DO any
of you know of a african cichlid website for beginers..... One easy to
follow!
Crystina
I appreciate all your help!

What you will probably notice is one of them stops eating, and there is a
bulge in the bottom of their mouth (female holds the eggs/fry for several
weeks). The eggs hatch, but the fry still take refuge in her mouth until
she decides, enough is enough, releases them and doesn't let them back
in. Then a few weeks later, you start noticing fry zipping around your
tank.

It's a good idea to keep the female (which is holding the eggs) from
being harassed too much, and after the final release, she should have
some time to regain her strength. hth

Note that many fish do it different ways, and I'm only describing the
most typical method for mouthbrooding African mbuna such as the
pseudotropheus that I think you have.

You think it might be an albino?? I have female red zebra that looks the
same... Her egg spots don't seem to be as big though, and dig.. Yes my
female digs.. I have yet to get my Zeb's to breed yet, or at least
sucessfully. It appeared one time as if the female had a bit of noticable
tube sticking out near her anal fin, I assumed she was ready to drop eggs,
but never noticed her with a brood in her mouth nor did I find any babies
around.. Dig around on the search engines a bit, and you will find many web
sites with useful and sometimes useless information pertaining to malawi's.
I know there are many intresting books out there on the subject of all the
african's as well.. One book I am intrested in was wrote by a fellow named
Ad Konings.. This author has information pertaining to breeding and the many
different varities of Malawi's and other Cichlids.. If you live in the High
Desert in Southern California, one of the LFS I visit often get thier
breeding stock from Mr Konings as well.. Hopefully this helps you out.. BTW,
you were not being annoying, and I ask that you don't take my personality as
rude. Welcome to the hobby and happy fish keeping...

What's all the excitement about?
She posted a URL and that's just fine. Nobody is forcing you to go there.

How big do you think my fish will get? Is there room for more fish in my
55 gallon?
Thanks

If we knew what types of fish you had, we could tell you, but as we don't
we can't
