My mother in law set up a 29 gallon tank about 2 months ago & has a real
bad snail problem. She did empty tank out & start over again but they
still come back... Is there any tricks to get rid of them?

Loaches apparently like eating snails.. I just squish them and let the fish
eat away.. I have never had a snail problem in the malawi tanks.. I suspect
the malawi's have a taste for them as well..

I actually go to the local fish stores around here and "ask" for their
"trash" snails. Which they're more than happy to give up.
The 30-40 I get don't last long in my tank with 1 Green Spotted Puffer
and 1 Figure Eight Puffer. Oh yeah .. if he's lucky the Peruvian Puffer
might even get a couple.

i had snails problems, but you know what kills them, Iron, hmmmm? The iron
additives for the plants, get to them. I had many many snails. I even took
them out by the bunch in every water change. But sooner or later the iron
in the fertilizers kills them. They kept disapearing, until now I do have
snails, but its not an infestation. Also, very soft water with no calcium
additives gets them, the shells become very brittle then they die. :-(
take care.
