Do you really think that anyone gives a **** about FAQ's and other
crap pertaining to a public usenet group that is on the brink of
extinction, when there is so many web based forums out there with tons
of info plus pics and other goodies. I just have to assume this post
of yours does nothing nore than to help inflate your self imposed
position and ego, to make it sound and appear like you own this
group or manage it. Geeeeeeeeeeeeeesh! Please go find Wayne Sallee or
Kurt Guenther and show them your post maybe they will give a ****.
Odds are though, they won't but will claim they wrote it and started
this group. What a crock y'all are too inundated with requests for
info to supply your email addys.........yea right and people in hell
drink ice water and cold beer too.

The basic problem with web forums is that you have register with each
one to use it. The beauty of UseNet is the same set of Newsgroups are
worldwide. Each ISPs news server should, in theory, have the same messages.

As a global presence, Usenet messages should be far more effective than
some web forums.

And I am NOT trying boost my ego. I am trying to bring life back to
these forums, since I used them a LOT back in the 90s.

If you don't like it, then killfile me and be done with it.

Yep, usenet was great for this back then. What's happened is that the assholes
that run the commercial forums have blasted the newsgroups with garbage to the
point that many of them are not really useable.

Decisions are made by people who have time, not by people who have talent.
Talented people are too busy fixing problems created by people who make
decisions.

I use thunderbird with "right click ignore", to ignore whole threads.
Plus, if you filter on address, etc. you get rid of the "dummies."

But yes, a$$holes can ruin things--just look at our politicians ...

Take a look at rec.aquaria.marine.reefs. Last time I checked, there was some
bozo with one of those random message & address generators putting out several
hundred messages a day, plus at least one other guy posting profane insults
using other people's return adresses. Perhaps you've figured out how to get
T-bird to do some things that I can't get it to do, but I found no way to filter
out the random messages (filtering on an IP address is the only thing I could
think of). And one could get fired or sued for some of the things the other guy
was posting. It would take a long time to prove that you didn't do it (if you
even could).

Idiots persist, don't they? <yawn>

I can't believe people are so weak they actually "give up!"
