Yup, sure. Depends on the size of your tank, but I used something like
a CPR Bak-Pak 2R+

on a 55 gal bow-front corner tank, for a few years.

Scott: You know, if you don't yell you're more likely to get what you want.
Boss: I want to yell.
Scott: I see. That is a flaw in the plan.

Stay away from any algicides. If you have been doing proper water
parameters and not overfeeding and have proper lighting, you can whip
an algae problem.
Check out a Coralife SUper Skimmer. They work fantastic and do not
cost an arm and a leg to buy, and can be run in a sump or by hanging
on the tank in any place of your choice. Shop online and do a bit of
research on prices as I have seen as much as $70 differences between
places for these skimmers comparing model for model of same Super
Skimmer. Our local LFS sells Sup[er Skimmer 65 models for a whopping
$215 whereas I bought em on line for under $85 including shipping.
