It is with heavy heart and blurry eyes, that I inform you, Nicholas passed

hardest part for them....

I don't know what else to say, besides thanks guys... you ALL helped.... it

Aw, Red.. That is so sad, I can only imagine how the Parents must feel. My
kids are my life, and I live for them, I could not imagine what I would feel
like if I lost eithier one of them. May the Lord bring some comfort to the
family.

I'm so sorry to hear this, Red. Our thoughts are with
them (and you). I'm off to give my kids a big hug.

Nicholas or Jacob??? Either way, I believe he is in Heaven. My prayers are
for the parents.

Certainly, for sure, the child is in a better place now. Best regards and my
prayers to the family. May their grief be short, and they find ways to make
the best of a bad situation.

In the beginning, I stated Jacob as a privacy issue, but after the
outpouring of sincere interest to send cards, notes, etc, I corrected and
explained exactly WHY I changed the name of an innocent child... I think you
can understand that, can't you?

Either way, if you are interested in sending cards, the hospital, address
listed in another thread by me, will be forwarding all cards in the mother
and fathers name to their home.

The Bible teaches that the dead are in the ground and waiting
for The Lord's Second coming, at that point those judged
worthy will be headed to heaven. Anyway, this is not an

I believe that when we die, we end up as fertilizer as part of the
cycle of life - so, what's your point?

You know, Red asked for prayers, and I don't pray. As a matter of
fact, I'm agnostic (well, maybe more like agnothiest), and I'm not
interested in being associated with organized religion in any way...

BUT, the least I can can do is offer best wishes.

Your post, however, doesn't offer squat all, except a threat... <sigh>
Oh well, Usenet is full of idiots :)

People from all religions, non-religions, cults or whatever are expressing
feelings and thoughts about this situation. If you don't like it.... DON'T
READ IT! duh!

I have the ability to listen to people and still believe what I believe.
You can tell me all day long that the sky is green... I will nod my head and
say, "Gee, it sure is pretty isn't it." I will still believe that the sky
is blue and you will still have your beliefs intact without even having one
ill word. Is that ability beyond you?

It seems as if though your religion is teaching you the wrong things about
humanity. Humanity, by the way, is made up of a gazillion different
religions. Your religion apparently teaches threatening someone to do what
you want or you'll do as much damage as possible... doesn't sound very
friendly to me. Learn not to hate...

Red... I for one am glad you posted about the child. it helped remind me
to take life a bit less serious with work and take a softer stance with
other situations before me.

Thanks bud,
-brian

By the way... I like the name Bethany... My best friends wife is named
Bethany, she's one of the sweetest people I've ever met. If my wife and I
ever have another child (hopefully a girl, cuz I don't think a boy would
last too long with a name like that, heh), I think I would like that name
for her. Maybe my bud's wife being who she is made me like it a lot more...
that plus it's unique.

Thanks.... that was the exact point of, support and prayers... If you don't
pray, you can support.. If nothing else, think positive... and above all
else, keep your priorities straight.... bikes, fish, atvs, are all hobbies
as it was so well put before, this is an innocent child, and we mourn the
loss, but celebrate the life and the living... to each his own...

So sorry to hear that.

The loss of a child is most certainly the hardest thing to ever have to deal
with. I wouldn't even wish it on my greatest enemy.

I lost a baby girl when I was very young, she was stillborn, and the grief
never really struck me until I was much older and had another baby boy. The
new baby boy looked very much like his sister, and it brought out alot of
the sadness I should have had when I was younger.

My heart goes out to the family and yourself.

Most of my newsgroup participation has been on the triathlon newsgroup,
but as a keeper of fish, ponds, and herps, I have lurked a good deal on
those appropriate groups. That's not many, but enough to observe that
no matter what the subject, it sometimes happens that something in a
poster's life, good or bad, is so overwhelming that it spills out in
unexpected places. Example: a man sent a note to rec.sport.triathlon at
2 a.m., saying he had nowhere to turn at that hour of the morning, his
little twin girls were sleeping and his family had not yet arrived to be
at his side because his wife was killed on her bicycle by a truck only
hours earlier. I know it was true because I saw him at Ironman Hawaii
racing in his wife's number. On the pond newsgroup a man called for our
prayers or thoughts because his wife and baby were missing and he was
frantic and had nowhere to turn. His emotions spilled over wherever and
it happened the computer was nearer than anyone. It is not as if
someone says to him/herself I think I'll introduce a new subject to a
newsgroup and add a few commandments just to annoy everyone. It doesn't
subtract anything from the group to be receptive and kind. Most
newsgroups digressed on 9/11 for a few days for the same reason: our
thoughts could not remain strictly on their tracks in face of such
overwhelming news. We needed to talk and everywhere was the right place.

You, are obviously an idiot.

Another fine example of one person trying to decide what is best for the
everyone else.

You probably threaten the big 3 networks for television shows you personally
don't like, instead of changing the channel.

There are those in this group who are more than up to the task of dealing
with you and your threat as well, including the very person who started this
thread in the first place. Go ahead, make good on your threat.

Hey, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Some people are religious,
some are fanatics, some don't give a sweet squat. But you know what,
this thread wasn't about religion, it was about a little lad that was
very ill.

You really are an insentisive twit with a lot of spare time on your

The only real tolerance you people have is for your
traditions Seven years of psychiatric torture as a
reward for criticizing traditions in your churches,
I begged in vain for assistance to flee the country,
now you people have the audacity to call me insensitive.
God decides when your children's lives are up,
your heart chooses Sunday as your holy day,
and He chose Sunday to stop this one's heart.
I don't think it proper for people to come to
fish groups and preach that their smitten
children are in heaven and looking down upon
us, and rather than admonish the behaviour,
you people encourage it for you desire to hear
news that your own smitten kids are in heaven.
God dothn't appoint me as a keeper of your
usenet group, God appoints me to identify
and denounce the crap that pours out of your
mouths, and if your crap pours out into groups
that should be limited to carp, then I will
publicly identify it as such. -Daryl S. Kabatoff

Red, I am a little surprised here... surprised that you would
encourage this 'person' by a) responding to him and b) falling to his
level or below by posting full detail information about him...

I understand YOUR pain in this entire situation but I have to admit,
that when I first caught the first message you posted, even though it
stated that it was OT... I was tempted to say something similar,
basically that it didn't belong here... then I re-read the message,
and realized who had sent it and came to the same conclusion as most
of us here have come to... that Red was in pain and needed our
encouragement and help in whatever way we could give it.

I know that most information is available, and that if you dig far
enough you can find Social Security numbers for ANY one in the USA...
but is that something that should be posted in such a wide ranging
fashion? I can't find that sort of information without a lot of
digging, and I wouldn't really want someone to dig that far into me
either. I definately would not expect someone else to post that info
into a usnet message that is so widely exposed.

I am only hoping that it was your pain that made you do this and not
something that you would do on a regular basis.

Granted, of course, that this guy _almost_ deserved it, but he was
just being an idiot... you were being vengeful and I think that is
maybe a little bit worse. Shoot, it makes me want to go into my
'father' mode and just say "now boys.... behave..."

Don't take offense... I am still planning on keeping all the tips you
have posted here and will continue to watch any thread that you
contribute to since you do provide some very useful information!

hahahaha... you say the craziest things. a good belly laugh keeps the mood
high here. Oh wait... your serious... oh well...

the things you say just make me sorry for the day you are judged. God will
ask you, "how much love did you share in your life"... you'll get to
answer, "What's love got to do with it... I was too busy telling people
about their smitten kids." God, will say, "Smitten? when did you become
their judge hater" (I don't think God will call you a hater... but it adds
to the drama don't you think). Remember the "Judge not" comment God gave
you? You have no idea if our kids are smitten or not because that requires
a judge... a judge, oh say, like God. and you are not God. You use God to
your will and your purpose. You fling HIS name about, and words like
smitten and admonish and you seem to believe this will make your dribble
more acceptable to us. <BZZZZZZTTT> wrong answer... thanks for playing.

The fact that the child died on Sunday has NOTHING to do with ANYTHING other
than the fact that the day is called Sunday. How many children die on other
days of the week and what does that mean? Are you trying to actually
indicate that the children (or anyone else for that matter) that die on
Sunday is because they are being smitten? What the HELL is wrong with you?

You say that you are appointed to denounce the crap that pours out of our
mouths... what defines crap? oh say, maybe something like... "I'll spam
ALL of you and ALL of your groups" (in the name of God I bet) " and I'll do
it using different names so you can't block me". The entire truth to who
you are is easy... your a hater that uses God in your sentences to make
yourself seem like you have something of importance to say. So far, you've
shown nothing to do with teaching, educating, or enlightening. You want to
tell us were all evil. Once again, it takes a judge to declare someone
evil. you are not a judge.

what church do you belong to that rewards such hateful comments? If you
believe your religion and faith to be the true religion... then you should
not be ashamed to educate us in what religion we should belong to. You are
obviously the superior choice as a spokes person for your faith. So, tell
me what church I should join to save myself from myself. now is your time
to stand up and be a missionary for your church.

The following (courtesy of Waxy.org) is sort of an unofficial "FAQ"
explaining the psychotic nonsense posted to Usenet by Shawn Daryl
Kabatoff AKA "Dar", AKA "Probababbilities". And now AKA "marcia and
me".

WARNING: Read below before even thinking about responding to this
twit.

Usenet has the tendency to provide a public forum for those who would
normally be scribbling in a closet. For example, take Daryl "Shawn"
Kabatoff. For the last few years, he's methodically gathered
"statistics" from various sources, ranging from local newspaper
obituary pages to the food court of the Saskatoon Midtown Plaza mall.
With all the raw data he's collected, he's attempting to prove daily
that our full names are in "mathematical harmony" with our birthdays.
His rants normally focus on a single individual he's met or read
about, starting with calculations related to their birthdate and full
names, blending in whatever other personal information about their
family members, spouses, birthplace, and career he's been able to
glean. From there, it descends into a mix of numerology, religious
zealotry, and personal torment. I've never seen anything like it.
With all the prime numbers, Fibonacci sequences and biblical
references, it's like reading the notebooks of Maximillian Cohen and
John Nash combined. Unsurprisingly, several posts unfold to reveal a
history of painful mental illness. If you have some time, take a look.
I've detailed his posting history and a several sample posts below.

scarier still is that saskatoon is my hometown, though not my current
residence. and every single place he's mentioned in his posts (most
notably nervous harold's and the roastary) were either places i've
been (as it's a small city of 200K) or hangouts, ie. the two places
mentioned. chances are i could email some friends back home and find
out if they know of him, they (my friends that is) being of the
broadway-centred slacker ilk. myself, too, until i got out of there.
eh, anyways. thought it odd to see all this. midtown mall. i ate my

Fascinating. It's like he's trying to take chaos and bind it into
whatever rules he can find, religious, logical and otherwise. Numbers
and math have a reliable pattern, something that can always be proven
to true or false. People and religion do not. It reminds me of Darren
Aronofsky's movie Pi. It's the story of an paraniod genius who is
trying to find a pattern in Pi. A group that takes interest in his
work is convinced that the existence of Pi, a number whose existence
can be proven but no quantified, is proof of the existence of God.
Kabatoff's hunt for patterns in something as random as name selection
is a way to reconcile his deeply logical thought process with his
conflicting religious views.

Exactly. I probably shouldn't have, but I e-mailed Daryl yesterday,
asking him if he'd be willing to create a numerological analysis for
me. I also asked him if he had seen either Pi or A Beautiful Mind, and
what he thought of them. If he replies, I'll be sure to post it.

Shawn once went to a funeral for a Jehovah Witness that shot himself
and the lemon tarts were very bad, they were not only sour but were
rubbery as well. Shawn said that the guy was some kind of Jehovah
Witness prophet, he saw in advance that the lemon tarts at his funeral
were to be very very bad, and so he shot himself. Shawn said that he
never ate pumpkin pie at a funeral but would like to some day. Shawn
likes pumpkin pie and so I have been practicing to make very good
pumpkin pies.

Mr. Kabatoff attempts to portray himself as a victim, but in fact he
is a violent predatory pedophile who is well known to his local law
enforcement. In his post to multiple newsgroups with the subject
"Collecting Mail For The Coming Anti-Christ", he encourages mothers to
send him photos of their naked daughters. Mr Kabatoff explains, "I
personally did not want photographs being mailed to (the coming
Ant-Christ) that were of underage children unless the parent was
signing consent." He is banned from virtually all the shopping malls
in his community because he stalks young people and sexually harasses
them. He has an extensive arrest record which includes sexual
molestation charges. He's been hospitalized in mental institutions
several times because he likes to accost "nubile cuties." He writes
about his contact with young girls in many posts. Search newsgroup
archives for posts by him containing the word "nubile". As part of his
harrassment, he provides personal details in a public forum, such as
the real names of real children, in these and other posts. About one
girl he met at a mall, he writes, "I wanted Callie in my bed or I
wanted her and her sister dead."

He not only curses children and prays for their death in his posts, he
also enjoys attending the funerals of young people: "And so, since
nubile sweeties are found in greatest abundance at the funerals of
high school students, then it is the funerals of high school students
that make the very very best funerals, especially if there is food...
I stuff my face (and my pockets) with all the good food and look at

spams, floods and crossposts his off-topic threatening and offensive

he sends these posts to any newgroup, please help by reporting him to

I knew of him when I was attending the University of Saskatchewan.
He'd hang out in the Arts computer lab and all you'd see is screens of
numbers racing by on his laptop. I have an original copy of his
"Collecting Mail for the Coming Anti-Christ" pamphlet, and have seen
him be hauled away by campus security on more than one occasion. My
friends and I refer to him as "Crazy Number Man".

I've been posting to (and about) Shawn for over two years with big
gaps in between. He has seen Pi and didn't like it and didn't think it
resembled him at all. (Wrong, it fits him to a tee) He doesn't have
total recall and has stated that he travels with a lap top to notate
items. Also, he uses "cut n' paste" a lot if you read all the way
through his ramblings. He is anti-social as shown by his angry
statements towards those who, by his own admission, have been kind
(but not kind enough) to him. Still, he's intelligent and seems to be
able to "take a joke" on occassion. That's where I came in.

I think I give up after this too... Daryl has yet to show any intelligence
beyond the ability to conjure up humorous subject titles.

At first I thought this guy actually had something to say as if though he
knew a little bit on the topic he was talking about. Turns out he's only
looking for a fight. He doesn't want to have anything to do with an
intelligent conversation because he thinks himself smarter than us. The
worst thing that could happen to Daryl is to lose an argument to us inferior
people (especially someone called DumberThanSnot). When it comes to his
church (if there even is one), Daryl uses God for his own purposes saying
that God is using him for God's purposes. If Daryl actually believed in God
and the bible, he would know that he doesn't have the authority to call our
children smitten, or to presume he knows the mind of God and proclaim that
God took an innocent child on a Sunday for the sake of proving a point that
it was on a Sunday.

The only thing I can actually gather from this nut is that his Frontal
Lobotomy operation was only half successful. ;-) (come on Daryl... that
was funny and you know it)

The bible teaches many things. Pity that you seem to have missed the
universal messages it contains.

>It's an abuse of these usenet groups.

Your contribution record hasn't exactly been stellar.

A statement of one's own personal beliefs is a far cry from 'pushing a
doctrine'. Which you'd realize if you were rational.

>If you insist upon continuing with this line, I can ask for

So, your response to not liking what one person has posted is to
threaten retaliation against an entire newsgroup? That's impressively
childish.

for those who are old-hats at usenet/newsgroups this is nothing new, but for
those who havent yet been a part of the community for a while please indulge me
for a moment while i elaborate a bit on what's happening.

what you are seeing is an attempt at a prelude to a crosspost flame war.
meaning; two sides of two different posting groups respnding in argument to the
same thread. what results is a thread that will last for months with nothing
acomplished except hatred, abuse, and foul language being slung across all
groups involed. to show how this relates to what we are seeing here;

1. a topic is posted.
2. someone posts an an attack against the original poster. (this is a "flame" or
"flaming")
3. the majority attack the the new individual for his attack. (also "flaming")
4. the poster then crossposts the string to another group(s) that were not
involved in the original string with additional comments designed to cause the
new groups to "flame" the poster as well.
5. group 1 wonders why group 2 is posting in their group.
6. side A from both groups begin arguing with side B.

and on it goes.

Daryl is looking for people to fight with so he can drag the discussions into
other groups and get them to join in the fighting as well. then those in the
aquaria groups will get frustrated at all the "off-topic flaming" going on and
wonder why it's being posted in their group. before you know it you have a flame
war.

when you reply to the crossposts you are inviting them into the groups here,
which is exactly what the person you are replying to has intended to happen, and
what he is goading you into doing.

if you must reply (which i would recommend you dont in the first place because
all you do is feed it) please trim the groups to avoid allowing this.

this is not directed at anyone individually. i'm just using this opportunity to
make an example.

Wouldn't it make more sense to simply not answer him at all? Put him
in your kill file and be done with him permanently.

I actually considered not posting anymore to him... but, it got to a point
where I was either having too much fun poking holes in his obvious
delusions, or I was just simply amazed with seeing that someone is so
distorted and able to type at the same time. I've read some articles on
this nut. And I now think play time is over with him... there is no
possible way to educate him past his own mental blocks. I only read the
articles out of some morbid fascination and because he lives in a world so
different from mine. It was no different than watching a National
Geographic program and seeing how other people live. In this case, a
mentally distorted person who is (out of his own words) out to make sure we
are all dead.

well, nuff said... I feel bad for the guy now...

I'll probably have to poke a hole in his theories every now and then... just
not here though... ;-)
