I bought a bunch of cichlids at the Chicago show yesterday. I have a 120
gallon, fully cycled tank. I bought about 10 fish (to a tank that had about
6 already). Worrying about the ammonia spike, I added some Amquel. Is this
what most of you do when you buy fish at shows? I saw a lot of folks buying
10+ fish, so I am pretty sure this is not an uncommon problem. What do you
do to decrease the risk of shock when buying a lot of fish?

adding 10 fish to a cycled 120 g tank with only 6 in it will not create any
problems unless the 6 are huge Oscars or the one's you bought are large or
your tank is filtered by an Aqua Clear 150 . I'm sure your tank is filtered
properly. Adding fish to any tank will start a new mini cycling process but
I don't see a problem here.

I am running two 2028 Eheim filters... so the filtration is adequate - i
think! I appreciate the answer!
